BEAVER BANK: While many his age were out enjoying the few hot days of summer we had, one young Beaver Bank boy was thinking of school. Halfway through summer, Peyton Chahley took to his parents’ computer and sent Beaver Bank-Kinsac Elementary School (BBKES) principal Brendon MacGillivray an email outlining an idea he had as a fundraiser for the school to help out those children in East Africa. The idea came after the shy— but alert— nine-year-old was riding in his car with his mom, who had the radio on. He heard a topic around the need for medicine, food, and more items as more than 400 children a day were dying from disease in East Africa. He couldn’t wait until the first day of school started to get the idea rolling. “I wanted to do fundraisers so they would have food, water, and medicine,” Peyton said in his tiny voice.
