Porter, Donald Willis Sr. – 84 Hantsport, passed away Friday March 19, 2010 , in Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born in Falmouth, he was predeceased by the love of his life and wife of 46 years, Dorthy (Demings) Porter in July 1996. Dad began his career in sales at age 17, working for his uncle, George Lenihan in Kentville. He and Mum were married in hantsport in October 1949, and beginning in January 1950, he worked for Hants Wholesalers in Windsor and then Halifax. In 1965, he made the move to CKF Inc., from where he retired as sales manager Atlantic in 1989. He was devoted to supporting his wife and family. Visits from grandchildren and more recently , great-grandchildren were cherished. He always looked forward to his visits to his second family at Randg’s Family Restaurant for coffee and conversation, where he spent many enjoyable hours. Anyone who knew Dad was aware of his passion for the stock market, his love of playing solitare, and his ability to keep winning at cribbage until the very end. Surviving are his daughter, Andrea Porter Stevens, Hantsport; sons, Donald Jr. Halifax; Cameron (Valerie), Port Williams; Judson ( Debbie Lloyd) London U.K. grandsons, Jamie (Stewart Legere) Stevens and Bobby (Janice) Stevens, all of Halifax; great-grandsons, Lawson Robert and Owen Porter; former son-in-law, Danny (Jessie) Stevens, Beaver Bank; sisters, Olive Dodge, Windsor, Rachel Sheehy, Falmouth; Maxine (Dr. Beverly) Trask Sydney; brother, Ed, Falmouth; sisters-in-law, Edna Porter and Olive Porter, both of Windsor; Beryl Chipman, HantBorder; Evelyn (Robert) Walsh, Hantsport; Shirley Starratt, Leduc, Alta; brothers-in-law, Charles “Bud” Dodge, Ronald Sheehy, Walter Chipman and sisiter in law Shiley Porter.. Cremation has taken place. Committal service held Riverbank cemetery.Hantsport on March 27. Rev. Glennis Smith officiated. Reception was held in the family home.
