ANTLE, Betty Lou — Age 67, of Beaver Bank, passed away March 2, 2010, in QEII Health Sciences Centre, after a courages battle with cancer. Born in Lower Sackville, she was a daughter of the late Alden and Beatrice (Roach) Stone. Betty Lou was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend to all who knew her. She was a foster mother to over 55 children. She was an avid gardener, enjoyed knitting, find-a-word and diet coke. She is survived by her loving husband, Cyril Lively; daughters, Lisa Lively, Shawna Lively and Terria Sangster, all of Beaver Bank; sons, Gary (Scott) Kent of Fort McMurray, Alta.; Robbie (Dee dee) Lively of Lower Sackville; sisters, Dawn (Ken) Barrett of Beaver Bank; Glennie of Annapolis Valley; brother, David (Fran) Stone; 11 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and two on the way; many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by son, Ricky. Visitation 2-4, 7-9 p.m. Thursday and Friday with funeral service 10 a.m. Saturday both in Atlantic Funeral Home, 125 Sackville Dr. Burial in Pleasant Hill Cemetery. HUNTER, Helen Catherine

HUNTER, Helen Catherine — 88, died peacefully in Middle Musquodoboit Memorial Hospital. Helen was a daughter of Sarah and Foster Boutilier (Crawford) of Windsor Junction. Helen lived her life in the Windsor Junction/Fall River area. She is survived by her son, Allen Hunter (Margaret); granddaughter, Cathie O'Toole, great-grandson, Andrew O'Toole; daughter, Gail; grandsons, Dove and Aaron; great-grandchildren, Ella and Leo. She is survived by her sister, Ruth Cox of Sechelt, B.C. She was predeceased by brothers, Mark, Ralph and Ernie; sister, Peg Kennedy. Helen was a federal civil servant for over 30 years, employed with the HMCS Dockyards. She was a member of St. John's United Church UCW in Windsor Junction, and also attended Lucasville United Baptist Church. She was active in the community with the Senior Citizen's Friendly Group, the Easter Star, and the Historical Society. She was a fun and loving person, and will be greatly missed. A celebration of her life was held on May 8, in St.Thomas Anglican Church in Fall River, at 2 p.m., with Rev. Marion Conrad presiding. No flowers. Porter, Donald Willis Sr.

Porter, Donald Willis Sr. – 84 Hantsport, passed away Friday March 19, 2010 , in Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born in Falmouth, he was predeceased by the love of his life and wife of 46 years, Dorthy (Demings) Porter in July 1996. Dad began his career in sales at age 17, working for his uncle, George Lenihan in Kentville. He and Mum were married in hantsport in October 1949, and beginning in January 1950, he worked for Hants Wholesalers in Windsor and then Halifax. In 1965, he made the move to CKF Inc., from where he retired as sales manager Atlantic in 1989. He was devoted to supporting his wife and family. Visits from grandchildren and more recently , great-grandchildren were cherished. He always looked forward to his visits to his second family at Randg’s Family Restaurant for coffee and conversation, where he spent many enjoyable hours. Anyone who knew Dad was aware of his passion for the stock market, his love of playing solitare, and his ability to keep winning at cribbage until the very end. Surviving are his daughter, Andrea Porter Stevens, Hantsport; sons, Donald Jr. Halifax; Cameron (Valerie), Port Williams; Judson ( Debbie Lloyd) London U.K. grandsons, Jamie (Stewart Legere) Stevens and Bobby (Janice) Stevens, all of Halifax; great-grandsons, Lawson Robert and Owen Porter; former son-in-law, Danny (Jessie) Stevens, Beaver Bank; sisters, Olive Dodge, Windsor, Rachel Sheehy, Falmouth; Maxine (Dr. Beverly) Trask Sydney; brother, Ed, Falmouth; sisters-in-law, Edna Porter and Olive Porter, both of Windsor; Beryl Chipman, HantBorder; Evelyn (Robert) Walsh, Hantsport; Shirley Starratt, Leduc, Alta; brothers-in-law, Charles “Bud” Dodge, Ronald Sheehy, Walter Chipman and sisiter in law Shiley Porter.. Cremation has taken place. Committal service held Riverbank cemetery.Hantsport on March 27. Rev. Glennis Smith officiated. Reception was held in the family home. STELLER (Mitton), Janet Ruth — 47, Terra Cotta, Ont. It is with profound sadness that we announce that Janet Steller, mother, wife, daughter and sister, passed away peacefully at home on January 16, 2010. Janet was in the cherished company of her devoted husband Tom and surrounded by family when she slipped away after a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Halifax, Janet moved to Ontario with her family where she forged many lifetime friendships, completed high school, graduated from York University with a Bachelor of Commerce and Masters in Business Administration and met and married the love of her life. Her sons, Michael and Matthew are a fine testament to her commitment as a mother and the unconditional love and support that she provided. Both the Steller family and the Mitton family will remember Janet with fondness and inspiration. Janet...we will miss your strength, your compassion for others, and your humour! Wyatt, Freda Edna B. – 92, of Dartmouth, passed away peacefully March 24, 2010, in Parkland Estates, Halifax. Born in Windsor Junction, she was a daughter of the late William and Lillian (Lee) Parnell. Freda lived in Halifax for many years and was a faithful member of St. Phillips Anglican Church and the A.C.W She was a homemaker who loved baking, needlework, and caring for plants, her favourite being the African Violet. In their retirement, Freda and her late husband, Verne also enjoyed traveling in their motor home. Freda spent many enjoyable summers in her trailer at Sherwood Forest campground, Coldbrook. For the past 21 years, she had lived with her daughter Faye and family in Dartmouth, and was dedicated member of St. Luke’s Anglican Church in Dartmouth. Freda was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She is survived by daughter, Faye (Glenn Murphy); sons Warren (Lorraine Jones), Charles (Barbara Judge), John (Marie Samson); many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
