FALL RIVER: Supper was a little later then usual Jan. 12, for more than 3,000 Nova Scotia Power customers in the Fall River area. That’s because the power went out at about 5:13 p.m. A Nova Scotia Power spokesperson said crews were patrolling the area to determine the cause of the outage. They determined it was damage to overhead equipment. Power was restored to all but 900 residents by 9 p.m. However, those without power were expected to have theirs back by 10 p.m. The areas affected included Millers Lake, Guysborough Road, Fall River Road, Waverley Road, Lake Fletcher, Fall River Village and Rolling Hills. Just prior to the lights going out, a transformer was reported on fire along Highway 102, in Miller Lake. Engines from two fire departments, Station 45 (Lakeview-Windsor Junction-Fall River) and 47 (Goffs) were dispatched at about 5:05 p.m. by HRM Fire Regional dispatch, but couldn’t locate an issue. They returned to their respective stations at about 5:15 p.m., which is when word came of the power outage.
