Man arrested following sexual overtures toward young girl

LOWER SACKVILLE: RCMP have arrested a man in his 20s following an investigation into a man making overtures towards a young girl Jan. 11. Halifax District RCMP announced the arrest of the Bedford man in connection with the suspicious activity Jan. 22. In the incident, Const. Tamu Bracken, acting media relations officer with Halifax District RCMP, said the 15-year-old girl ran home after being approached by a male in a vehicle as she walked home Jan. 11, along Nordic Crescent and Sampson Drive, in Lower Sackville. The girl’s parents immediately called police when their daughter informed them of the 2 p.m., incident. Halifax District RCMP responded promptly. According to a news release issued by Const. Bracken, the girl told police the man had made sexual overtures towards her and appeared to be undoing his pants. In a release Jan. 22, Const. Bracken said RCMP arrested the man at 4:34 p.m., on Damascus Road in Bedford. He was to be in Dartmouth Provincial Court on the morning of Jan. 22. The man has bee charged with three counts of breaching his undertaking.
